In this image, Jesus and the twelve are seated around the table.  Jesus seems to be praying or talking to his disciples who have their heads bowed reverently.  The background of the Last Supper is a beautiful landscape of a lake during a sunrise.  This sunrise symbolizes the rebirth, or resurrection of Christ.  Above the scene is the upper-torso and arms of a faceless figure.

This figure can be interpreted in several ways.  First of all, as foreshadowing the resurrection of Christ.  The placement of the torso at the top of the work makes it seem as if it's rising to the heavens.

Another explanation could be that the figure represents the presence of God.  This would explain the facelessness of the body, because, according to the Bible, no living person can see the face of God.

Yet another interpretation is that the figure's outstretched arms could signify the cross.  Instead of using a halo with a cross inside, Dali uses the torso of the figure above Christ to create the cross, and adds a natural halo for Christ with light.

This piece, entitled the Sacrament of the Last Supper,  by Salvador Dali, a surrealist painter, was made in 1955.  It is now in the National Gallery of Art in Washington.

Dali does not add a face to the figure in order to leave the interpretation to the viewer.

This portrayal of the Last Supper focuses on Christ's divinity.  His head is higher than the disciples' heads and, as mentioned earlier, he has a halo of natural light.  Also, the rising torso enforces the supernatural aspect of Christ.
